How to choose a ring
Pick the stone for the life it will live
A ring worn daily needs 8 or harder on the Mohs scale: sapphire, spinel, diamond. Softer stones like opal and emerald are occasion stones, or need protective settings.
Size in the afternoon
Fingers run a half size larger by evening and in summer. We size to your afternoon measurement and resize free within two sizes.
Buy the cut, not the carat
A well-cut smaller stone reads larger and livelier than a lazy big one. This is where our money goes, and where yours should.

On the style
The halo should read as glow, not as a second ring. Tight, small melee ages better than big pave.
Start with hardness
Pearl is 3 / 10 on the Mohs scale. For daily rings, choose a bezel or low prongs; for earrings and pendants, wear it freely.
Fit before beauty
Measure a ring you already own at the end of the day, when fingers run largest.
Then the look
Decide setting height first. Hands that type, garden, or lift want the stone low.
Does a halo make the center stone look bigger?
Yes, roughly half a carat of visual spread, honestly gained. It also forgives a slightly smaller center, which is where the value hides.
Is pearl good for rings?
Pearl is 3 / 10 on the Mohs scale. A ring takes more knocks than any other jewel. Below 8 on the Mohs scale, choose a bezel or a low setting.
Which birthstone is pearl?
Pearl is the Jun birthstone and the traditional stone of the 30th anniversary. We set it for both, and for no occasion at all.
Are these stones treated?
Untreated unless the passport says otherwise. When a stone of ours is heated or grown in a lab, the passport says so in that word, in the same type size as everything else, and the price reflects it.
How do these wear?
Halos double the prong count, so a yearly check matters more here than anywhere.
How long until it arrives?
Ready-now works leave the studio within two business days, insured and signed for. Made to order pieces state their bench time on the page, most within three to four weeks.
