Low set rings for working hands
The short answer: A low set ring keeps the stone close to the finger so it does not catch on gloves, keyboards, dog leashes, or pockets. It is the single best decision for anyone who works with their hands and it costs nothing extra.

What low set actually means
The girdle of the stone sits at or just above the level of the band rather than being lifted on a tall gallery. A bezel does it best, a low profile basket does it nearly as well, and a flush or gypsy setting takes it further still.
Why high settings persist
Height sells across a counter. A raised stone catches light from more angles in a showroom, and it photographs well. In an ordinary week it also catches on everything, loosens prongs, and ends up in a drawer.
What we build most
Low bezels in platinum, and signets with the stone set into the face. Nurses, gardeners, chefs, climbers, and surgeons account for most of our commissions, and none of them regret the choice.
